Only 11 PhDs, 185 Doctors and 3321 engineers registered among 88,040 unemployed youth in valley | KNO

As the talk of educated unemployment is high , not many seem to have registered themselves. Replying to a question raised by BJP MLA Saat Paul Sharma, the government on Monday said that there were only 11 PhDs, 185 Doctors and 3321 Engineers registered with different District Employment and Counseling centers across Jammu and Kashmir up to December 2017. “The number of unemployed youth under various categories 88,040 and out of which 185 are Doctors, 3321 are Engineers , 11 are PhDs ,17351 are Post graduates , 6,586 are graduates and others are 60,586”, the State government replied. However the number may be higher as the registration is voluntary, Government said. The government further revealed that for providing jobs to the unemployed youth it has taken up various initiatives under Government and Private sectors. It further replied that “Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission has made 3,290 selections while Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection has recruited 19,583 youth in the same period. Similarly the schemes like Skill development and Entrepreneurship have been great initiatives where a number of youth were engaged with various jobs. Same way schemes like Seed capital Fund Scheme, Youth Start Up Loan Scheme, National Minority Development Finance Corporation, Women Entrepreneurship Program, Self Help groups by the department of Labor and Employment has come as a great help to unemployed youth of the valley. Under these schemes 4,736 units were created generating employment for 15,598 people. (KNB)
